The challenge
Our client supplies the majority of hospitals in the country with
monitoring meters. Staff administering testing have to be certified, and point-of-care
managers need to assure that tests are accurate. Managers at larger hospitals may have
3,000 staff using meters around the clock.
The client needed custom tracking and reporting for point-of-care managers.
Reports needed to indicate how meters were performing and flag any inadequacies in the
system. Any way to save time would be warmly received, as the existing monitoring method
was time consuming and repetitive.
The solution
We designed a system to generate reports quickly and easily by integrating
existing technologies. The reports indicate percentages of valid versus invalid tests and
highlight problem areas by staff member or by meter. Results are automatically assimilated
into a quick, easy-to-understand graphical trend report.
Real benefits
Reports confirmed accurate quality-assurance information and identified
common problems in the system, which managers addressed through improved training.
Certification tracking became easier, compliance was maintained continuously, and the
reports saved staff two weeks of work every month.
